Luis Álvarez Cervera had a very busy and fruitful season in 2021. The first big event of the year was the Sunshine Tour, a yearly event where Luis regularly coaches his New Zealand riders. Sadly this year, the Tour ended early due to an outbreak of Rhino in some areas of Spain and competitions didn’t begin again until April.
In April, Luis began to work with Chacco Marketing and started organising clinics for all levels of pupils, all over Spain. At the same time a social media plan was drawn up which included the start up of this web page and posts on various other social media platforms.
In June the Real Federación Hípica Española (Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation) awarded Luis their Gold Medal, for his notable achievements and career as a rider, trainer and breeder.
The main event in the summer of 2021 was, of course, the Olympic Games, where Luis attended as the regular trainer of the New Zealand Eventing team. As well as this his son, Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, also took part there as the only Spanish show jumper at the games. One of the other notable successes for Luis this year, was as a breeder, with the racehorse Nube Negra, having great results in the capable hands of the Skelton family.
In October Spanish television broadcasted an interview with Luis, by Jesús Álvarez Cervantes, a very well respected Spanish sports journalist. The interview was a review of over 50 years of his contributions to the equestrian world and was watched by a large audience.
We hope that 2022 will prove to be an equally interesting year and we will keep you updated about events on this page. Happy New Year
